It's been a long wait, but PS4 and Xbox One players can now finally experience the WipEout-inspired Redout from Italian developer 34BigThings. Originally released on Steam for PC players last year, RedOut Lightspeed Edition bundles the previously released Europa, Neptune and V.E.R.T.E.X. expansion packs and adds a new split screen mode, as well as enhanced support for PS4 Pro.

It's currently available to download on the PSN and Xbox Games Store for £34.99 and £31.99 respectively. Alternatively, a physical edition distributed by 505 Games, which also distributed the console release of Assetto Corsa, is available.

t's just a shame that WipeOut: The Omega Collection, the series that Redout undoubtedly owes a debt to, has already stolen the spotlight, at least on PS4. That doesn't mean you should ignore Redout, though. The game's art design is striking, the track designs are enthralling (we particularly like the SRRL challenges with warp gates that keep you on your toes), and the controls take skill to master thanks to the game's unique physics that require careful coordination of the twin sticks to maneuver your craft and maximise speed.

The career mode contains over 100 events spread across 11 event types to keep you busy, along with 30 tracks, four racing classes and seven different racing teams.

A Nintendo Switch version of RedOut is also in development but has no release date yet. 34BigThings plans to update the PS4 version with PSVR support via a free patch.
