Expensive Collectors Editions are nothing new in the games industry, enticing you to pay a premium for extra content such as artbooks, special cases or collectable figures. The Uncharted 4 Collectors Edition came with a 12" statue of Nathan Drake along with the obligatory steelbook case and artbook. Likewise, the Doom Collectors Edition came with a 12" statue of the iconic Revenant demon.
And now Milestone have joined the trend for the first time with the Valentino Rossi The Game Collectors Edition, which doesn't come with a statue despite retailing for a similar price as the Uncharted 4 and Doom Collectors Editions. Shame really – a replia model of Rossi's Yamaha would have been a welcome perk for hardcore fans.
Indeed, this Collectors Edition is certainly intended for hardcore fans of Valentino Rossi. You get a VR46 Bracelet, VR46 Flag, MotoGP Cap and a "little box with Valentino Ranch Sand." Yes, authentic Valentino Ranch Sand. It's been sold out for some time on Amazon Italy, Spain and France but is still available to preorder on Amazon UK for £99.99.
Curiously, the Amazon listing doesn't mention that the Valentino Rossi The Game Collectors Edition also includes a steelbook case, two signed posters and a season pass with access to six upcoming DLC packs, assuming that the content in the UK edition is the same as other regions. Which it should be for that price, frankly.
Valentino Rossi The Game launches next week on June 17th, featuring content based on the MotoGP 2016 championship plus plenty of Valentino Rossi-inspired content, including dirt Ranch races, Monza Rally and Drift events.
