The first substantial piece of premium DLC for Need for Speed Payback will be released on 19th December 2017 – adding new cars and a new racing discipline to the open world racing game.
Named after the new car class contained in the DLC, Need for Speed Payback's Speedcross Expansion primarily revolves around a Gymkhana-esque series of 16 events. Racing around pre-made courses, players will be tasked with amassing as many points in pre-determined areas as possible – with drifts, jumps, attained top speeds and destroying "smackable" items all contributing to the overall score.

Only cars that can be built up into the specific Speedcross class will be eligible for the events. At time of writing, players will only be able to upgrade five cars into Speedcross-eligible machines: the Mini John Cooper Works Countryman and Infiniti Q60 S included in the expansion, and the base game's Ford Focus RS, Nissan 350Z and Dodge Charger.
Pricing details for Need for Speed Payback's Speedcross Expansion have yet to be officially revealed. Owners of the game's Deluxe Edition will have immediate access to the content when it's released on 19th December.
