Registration now open for first round of McLaren's World's Fastest Gamer competition

James Allen On June 19, 2017

Registration has now officially opened for the first round of McLaren's 'World's Fastest Gamer' esports competition.

Open to anyone who wishes to participate, the registration openings are for the CJ Wilson Racing 570 Challenge - hosted on the Xbox One-only racing game Forza Motorsport 6.

The CJ Wilson 570 Challenge is a one-make virtual racing series using an in-game McLaren 570S that's been modified to a pseudo GT4 specification. The series itself will commence with a qualifying round on 3rd July 2017, with a series of five two-race rounds running from 11th July 2017 to 29th August 2017.

The full schedule for the CJ Wilson 570 Challenge has been listed below. Registration details and information on features like rulesets and eligible upgrades for the McLaren 570S can be found here:
  • Round 1 (11th July): Daytona International Speedway - Sports Car Circuit (10 laps)
  • Round 2 (25th July): Sebring International Raceway - Full Circuit (8 laps)
  • Round 3 (8th August): Road America - Full Circuit (8 laps)
  • Round 4 (22nd August): Sonoma Raceway - Full Circuit (10 laps)
  • Round 5 (29th August): Road Atlanta - Full Circuit (12 laps)

In conjunction with the details on the first round, information on the schedule and registration dates for the second qualifying round were also disclosed. Following on from the Forza Motorsport 6-based Round 1, Round 2 will be hosted exclusively on the PC via rFactor 2, with the only eligible car being a "soon-to-be-unveiled race specification McLaren GT car".

Registrations will open here on 1st August 2017, with the 20 participants for the four-race-long season being selected by a time trial event that'll go live the following day. The four races will each last 30 minutes and the grid placement will be dictated by a pre-race qualifying session - with the five fastest being entered into a follow-up, one-lap shootout 'Super Pole' session.

The full schedule for the rFactor 2-based second round of the World's Fastest Gamer has been listed below:
  • Round 1 (13th August): Silverstone Circuit - Grand Prix Circuit
  • Round 2 (20th August): Circuit Park Zandvoort - Grand Prix Circuit
  • Round 3 (27th August): Silverstone Circuit - International Circuit
  • Round 4 (3rd September): Silverstone Circuit - National Circuit
In both instances, the winners of the rFactor 2 and Forza Motorsport 6 championships will be entered into the World's Fastest Gamer final at the McLaren Technology Centre in Woking. More details on the other two rounds will be disclosed by McLaren in the coming weeks.
