Indie developer 34 Big Things has announced that their futuristic racer Redout will be making its way on to the Nintendo Switch this Spring.

The title was released on the PC last year and is due to launch on consoles in early 2017. However with the the newly announced Switch release window it is highly likely we'll see the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions launch alongside it in Spring.

Redout's stand out feature has to be its control scheme which is the result of two years development time. Even with a host of futuristic titles released previously, Redout separates itself from others with a truly unique handling system, which once you've got to grips with it, is highly satisfying.

Redout uses the right analog stick to pitch the vehicle forward and backward in order to decrease friction and increase speed. The right stick is also used to drift around curves which really adds a level of precise control.

The game is a love letter to the futuristic titles of the 90's and boasts real world locations such as Cairo and Alaska. Set in the year 2560, elaborate magnetic race tracks litter the barren wasteland of Earth which provide the planet's most popular sport.

We're very much looking forward to getting our mits on the console versions of Redout later this year and we'll of course keep you up to date on all the latest developments. For now why not take a look at our review for the PC version.
