Next month’s Race Of Champions (ROC) Riyadh will host the first-ever eRace Of Champions contest, created in association with Logitech G.

eROC race of champions esport eventThe virtual racers will compete both on the new ROC track in racing game Assetto Corsa and in real ROC competition cars on the ROC Factor Skills Challenge Course and the main ROC Parallel Track.

McLaren World’s Fastest Gamer Rudy van Buren is invited to race in the main ROC event as champion of the ‘virtual world’ and will be joined by the first F1 esports champion Brendon Leigh, triple Project CARS World Champion Kevin Leaune, iRacing Blancpain GT3 Sprint champion and Multiple World Record holder in Assetto Corsa and F1 2017 Enzo Bonito, and 2017 eWTCC Champion Alexander Dornieden.

The winners will win the chance to take on the ROC field featuring F1 stars, Indy 500 winners, Le Mans legends and Rally X greats including David Coulthard, Juan Pablo Montoya, Tom Kristensen, Petter Solberg, Lando Norris, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Josef Newgarden and Helio Castroneves.

ROC President Fredrik Johnsson said: “At the Race Of Champions we are always aiming to come up with new ideas and innovations – and this first ever eRace Of Champions promises to be a fantastic addition to the weekend’s action."

Simracing is getting huge all over the world and now some of the leading gamers will have the chance to prove their skills both in the real and the virtual racing world. I am delighted to have Rudy represent the virtual world as its champion and can’t wait to see who wins the eROC to also take on the world’s best drivers in identical competition cars on our unique ROC Parallel Track. It will be an incredible experience and fascinating for the rest of us to watch how they get on.

The Race Of Champions is run over two days: the ROC Nations Cup (Friday, February 2) which sees drivers pair up in teams based on nationality – including the hosts Saudi Arabia – to bid for the title of ‘World’s Fastest Nation’. On Saturday, February 3 it’s time for the Race Of Champions itself.
