The President of Sony's Worldwide Studios has stated that he'd like to see Gran Turismo 7 support PlayStation VR.

Talking recently with Eurogamer, Shuhei Yoshida said “Many trial tests we've been doing, some genres just work fine. One of those genres is racing games. So when Gran Turismo comes out on PS4, I'd like to see it support PlayStation VR, yeah.”

“The driving genre's a very difficult market right now,” said Yoshida said, referring to Driveclub's launch woes. “The team, we need to find a great angle for the racing to continue, to come up with a new racing game, if we're to look at another racing title. Creative ideas come when things are tough, so that lightbulb moment, I'm looking forward to.”

We're of course still waiting on a release date for the PlayStation VR not to mention Gran Turismo 7 has yet to even be announced. However, according to Polyphony boss Kazunori Yamauchi, Gran Turismo 7 should launch before 2017.

Of course with no Gran Turismo 7 announcement yet, it is perhaps a little unrealistic to imagine the game launching next year. Furthermore, gettting your hands on the PlayStation VR may prove tricky for many as it, according to Playstation president Andrew House, will cost as much “as a new gaming platform”.

Is Gran Turismo 7 and PlayStation VR a match made in heaven?
