OutRun-inspired Horizon Chase Turbo coming to PS4 and PC in May

Martin Bigg On April 16, 2018

Brazilian developer Aquiris Studio has announced an enhanced version of its acclaimed mobile arcade racer Horizon Chase, which was originally released back in 2015 on iOS before being ported over to Android, is coming to consoles and PC next month.

Inspired by ‘80s and ‘90s arcade racers like OutRun, Lotus Turbo Challenge, and Top Gear, Horizon Chase Turbo will be released on PS4, PC, Mac and Linux on May 15th. Xbox One and Nintendo Switch versions will follow later this year.

Horizon Chase Turbo features a striking visual style that’s contemporary, yet clearly inspired by classic games from the 16-bit era. Complementing the retro-inspired graphics is a soundtrack composed by none other than Barry Leitch, who composed the music for classic arcade racing games such as Top Gear and Lotus Turbo Challenge. Of course, no retro-inspired racer would be complete without split-screen multiplayer, which Horizon Chase Turbo supports for up to four players.

Races take place in a variety of locations around the world, with 12 cups, 48 cities, and 110 tracks to play through. There are also 26 unlockable cars with 10 upgrades, and new Tournament and Endurance modes added for the new Turbo version.

"The mobile version was unanimously acclaimed by critics and players, but we know the experience on PC and consoles was worth of a much larger effort. So we redesigned the game from the ground-up, turning it into a new game according to what is expected from next-gen platforms", said Sandro Manfredini, Business Director at Aquiris.
