First details on Forza Horizon 4's DLC programme revealed

James Allen On June 13, 2018

The first official information on Forza Horizon 4's DLC additions have been disclosed by publisher Microsoft Studios.

Announced in tandem with the game's world premiere at E3 2018, Forza Horizon 4's DLC programme is as extensive as we've come to express from Forza games as of late.On top of introducing a sizeable array of premium content to the game, the DLC initiative is also set to last until "the first half of 2019".

Most of this content will come in the form of Forza Horizon 4's Car Pass, which will introduce another 42 vehicles to the open-world racing game. Unlike prior Forza Car Pass programmes, however, Forza Horizon 4'3 Car Pass cars won't be added on a monthly basis - instead, two cars per week will be issued to Car Pass owners for the first 21 weeks after Forza Horizon 4's launch.

More cars will be coming to Forza Horizon 4 via a 10-car-strong Day One Car Pack and the seven cars included in the Formula Drift Car Pack. The contents of these DLCs aren't known yet, though more details are expected to be disclosed in the next couple of months.

The most interesting content packs announced for Forza Horizon 4 to date are the two expansions that have been confirmed for the game. Scheduled for releases in December 2018 and early 2019 respectively, the two expansions will add yet more cars to Forza Horizon 3, as well as new environments and what's vaguely referred to as "new gameplay".

Rounding off the DLC programme for Forza Horizon 4 is the VIP Pass, which adds extra perks and additions for players who purchase this add-on. Three exclusive Forza Edition cars are joined by perks such as increased race winnings, bonus weekly wheelspins and unique customisation options. More definitive information on what the VIP Pass contains will likely be revealed in tandem with the aforementioned Day One and Formula Drift DLCs.

In total, at least 62 cars will be brought to Forza Horizon 4 in the first five months of its lifecycle, with additional content coming to users who purchase the expansions or VIP Passes. Most of these features can also be purchased individually, with extra requirements only existing for the Formula Drift Car Pack (digital purchases; pre-ordering physical Ultimate Editions) and the Day One Car Pack (Ultimate Edition purchases).

More details on Forza Horizon 4's extensive DLC programme are anticipated to be revealed in the coming weeks and months.
